Family living at the pyramidal pinnacle of Seattle’s Smith Tower.. .

Entrepreneur and choreographer Petra Franklin Lahaie occupies this much-discussed, mystery-shrouded space atop floors of offices and banquet halls, with her young daughter . The live in a kind of ad hoc wonderland combining childrens’ toys with vintage architectural elements never meant to make a home.

Dublin Open House

Henry J Lyons Offices.
The design studios of Henry J Lyons were amazing. The way they had turned the place into open plan studios connected with terraces to the protected structures and loads of natural light were very interesting to see.

The Distillery Lofts Design Studios.

The Distillery Lofts complex is a protected structure, which from 1872 was the original working distillery for the Dublin Whiskey Distillery Company. Since 2002, it has been restored to ensure its unique character is retained, whilst making distinct modern interventions to provide new homes to a mix of business and residential units, including the architects’ own offices and Vermillion, a graphic design studio.

Redevelopment in Hanover Quay

Our first assignment in 4th year is a redevelopment of a residential building, where we are to choose 4-6 apartments and redesign it into one multi functional apartment for a family of six! This means that in the end we`ll end up with an apartment that is everything from 776 to approx. 1544 sq.meters. I have chosen to use five apartments and the total sq. meters for that is 1285.

With that we are also given three pieces of artwork /furnitures that will have to be incorporated into the proposed scheme.

As part of the research on the family's use of the apartment and their paths through the building on a normal day, we were divided into groups and made journey maps.
